Wizarding World of Crafting [laser cut]
Learn a magical new skill or use your skills to create a craft. Purchase this patch if you have created crafts that involve sewing, crocheting, knitting, decorating clothing or tote bags, knotting a fleece blanket, window art, string art, jewelry making, scrapbooking, card making, paper art and more.Complete one requirement to earn the patch. 1. Complete a craft kit that teaches you a skill or helps you use the skills you may already have. Examples: Sewing kits, needlepoint kits, crochet kits, window art, string art and more. If you purchase our kit you have completed this requirement with the sewing kit included 2. Gather some of your pictures on your phone or camera and have them printed out. Create a scrapbook or mini book of all your fun photos. You can add stickers and fun paper designs. For extra: Include all your wizarding fun items or events in your book. 3. Create a piece of jewelry for yourself or someone else. You can use letter beads, shaped beads, items from a broken jewelry piece that you can create into another item. The ideas are endless. Use your imagination and create something magical. 4. Making fleece blankets are very easy and magical craft that requires no sewing. Purchase at least 1 1/2- 2 yards of fleece fabric, trim the edges and create a fringe to tie in knots. [Click here for directions on how to create blanket] 5. Make a scarf representing your house colors. You can create the scarf by using fleece and tying knots at the bottom, crocheting, knitting or sewing one. When purchasing fleece, the average width of fleece on a bolt is 60 inches wide, ask for a 6 inch wide piece that represents your house color. Trim the bottom of scarf with fringes and finish by tying in knots. For extra, purchase on of our crests to sew at the bottom of the scarf. 6. Attend an event that teaches you a craft or lets you work on a craft. This could be at a wizarding themed event, community service project event, museum, OR host a crafty event using one of sewing or jewelry crafty kits. 7. Magical paper crafts can be fun and enjoyable to create. Examples: owls, cards, paper fans, holiday paper chains, bookmarks, wreaths, picture frames, and much more. 8. Use your magical knitting charm and learn how to knit an item. You can start with finger knitting and progress to knitting needles. Once you gather your supplies or kit, watch a magical video or tutorial on how to knit. You may also have an adult professor that could teach you this new skill. (They also have kits for beginners to create your own hat or scarf.) 9. Crocheting can be a magical skill that you create wizarding items, animals, and fun designs. Start by taking your lesson from an adult professor or classmate. Once you learn how to crochet you can create blankets, scarves, animals and much more. (There is a variety of kits and pattern books available.) 10. Learn how to sew on a sewing machine. You can start with something simple as a magical pillow made with the theme of your house colors or favorite magical pattern. As you learn more skills, you can create many magical things for yourself, friends, and your room. 11. Your magical spell for sewing will help you mend a piece of clothing in your closet or for another. Take out your thread and needle and sew on a button, patch a hole in jeans with a cute pattern fabric underneath, or sew something small together that came loose, like a hem, or stitch a seam back in place. 12. Decorate a piece of clothing or totebag by adding patches, lettering, or other designs to the items. Examples: Add a fairy or owl patch to denim jeans or jacket; add rhinestones or gems for to a hat; decorate a t-shirt with tye dye or fabric swatches to add a design to the edge of a sleeve or bottom; use stencils, lettering, iron-ons, or decals to a totebag or t-shirt; OR add flowers, buttons, and other decorative items to clothing, pillows, etc. The ideas are endless. Use your imagination to create. 13. Learn how to create a simple design using embroidery, cross stitch, bead work or needlepoint. Start by taking your lesson from an adult professor or classmate. Several kits are available for beginners. If you are not a beginner, then create something unique on your robe, scarf, sweater, sweatshirt. or other clothing item. 15. Learn how to use and read a pattern to create an item. This could be a sewing pattern, patchwork pattern, paper craft pattern, crochet or knitting pattern. What magical item did you create? 16. Create something new from something old. Examples: Add a lace ruffle to the bottom of a shirt; gather up all your old t-shirts or shirts you have kept from special events and create a quilt out of them, back it with a piece of fleece; using an old t-shirt cut in strips to braid with another t-shirt of different colors into a scarf or belt, tie off at the end with ribbon; cut pants off into shorts and add a nice trim to the bottom of the shorts; cut shorts off and add a gathered piece of fabric to create a unique skirt; turn any item you have into a magical new item. 17. Create a crafting item that you already know how to complete. Enjoy a magical time completing your craft.
