Learn about the requirements of becoming a Mother of the Year. Through
an organization you belong to such as your school, church group,
scout troop, or club, nominate and sponsor a woman you respect for
Mother of the Year.

Read either a speech from a Georgia Mother of the Year competition
or an essay from a mother’s portfolio. Write a summary in your journal
about something you learned that encourages you in your pursuit
of mothering.
3.
Interview a Georgia Mother of the Year. Make a list of skills she
believes are needed for great mothering. Choose one of the skills.
Record both long and short-term goals that will help you obtain
these abilities.
4.
Hold a Mother’s Day celebration and honor your mother or another
woman that has influenced you for good.
5.
Write a letter to your Mother, or a woman you admire, thanking her
for her powerful nurturing.
6.
Make a gift for your mother that represents your cherished relationship.
7.
Participate in a Georgia Mother’s Association project, such as literacy,
books for babies, or quilt making.
8.
Organize a project to foster the spiritual and moral foundation
of home under the direction of your mother or a Georgia Mother.
9.
Volunteer at a Mother’s Day event.
10.
Read the Book “Mother’s Love” by Ester J. Rasband or “Mothers Speak…For
Love of Family” by Rosalie Fuscaldo Gaziano. Discuss what you learned
with a friend.
11.
Write a summary of what you learned in reading “Mother’s Love”
or “Mothers Speak…For Love of Family” and submit your writing
(for possible publication) to: |

Interview your grandmother or an older woman you admire. Find out
how mothering makes lasting happiness. Write a letter thanking her.
13.
Invite your mother or another woman you admire to become a member
of American Mothers Inc. by providing membership application and
materials.
