1. Antigua and Barbuda are a pair of islands. There are a number of smaller islands surrounding the two main islands of Antigua and Barbuda. Locate where the two islands are, learn the capital, and familiarize yourself with the flag.

2. English is the official language, however there is a secondary language spoken by the natives known as Antiguan Creole. Both languages are respected and spoken throughout the nation. However, governmental and educational facilities speak in Standard English. Learn some words or slang that is spoken Antigua and Barbuda.

3. There are many island festivals and activities yearlong. The Antigua and Barbuda Independence Festival is on November 1st, the same date they gained total independence in 1981. There is a Mango festival that celebrates the Mango in Antigua. Apart from the many festivals, Antigua and Barbuda celebrate Carnival in January and Christmas a heavily family centered time of the year. 4.The national dish of Antigua and Barbuda is called fungie and pepper pot. This dish is mainly cornmeal and okra. 5. Music styles such as calypso, soca, steeldrum, zouk, and reggae. The music has African influence, and little from European descent. Benna is an Antiguan folk genre made in the 1800's. 7. In 1684, Sir Christopher Cordington, landed on the island of Antigua. For years afterwards, Antigua became a land heavily cultivated for sugar. Today, visitors can still see Betty's Hope, Sir Cordingtons original sugar estate. Later in the eighteenth century, Antigua had become an important ship port and was known as the "gateway to the Caribbean". 8. Antigua and Barbuda are located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. There are multiple coral reefs around the islands. The coasts and beaches are beautiful, and often serve as tourist's attractions. The island is a volcanic island; therefore there is not much plant life because of the volcanic ash. Trees on the island include: acacia, mahogany, and red and white cedar. There is a vast array of wildlife on the island including: bats, iguanas, flamingos, and marine life such as sharks and sailfish.
