Complete ONE Requirement to earn this patch

 1. If you were president what you do? Why would you be a good President? Tell me why I should vote for you! [There is an activity sheet located in this kit for them to write on]

2. In 2003, President Bush created the Presidential Volunteer Service Award to reward people of the United States young and old that volunteer. His thoughts are for all children to pursue their dreams, complete an education, and make good choices. Choose a community service project to complete. 3.  Why do we need to appoint a President, principal, treasurer, or someone in a leadership position? If we didn’t have someone trying to enforce the rules then school, troops, ball games, or the country it would get out of control and everyone would do what they pleased. Think about one person that is in charge and what are there duties? What would happen if no one was in charge?

4.   Create a “Vote For_____ “ poster. It can be voting for YOU, activity, food item, or anything you wish to vote for. Make your poster colorful and eye catching so they will VOTE FOR YOU or YOUR ITEM.

 5.  Play a game that represents leadership, our country, white house, president, or the election. Examples include: Word search puzzles, match cards, board games, follow the leader, or online games. Have a patriotic celebration and serve festive food. For extra, create decorations for you event.

6.  In order for someone to be elected president of the united states the people have to vote for them. They have to choose which party to vote for, democratic and republican are the common parties, then they cast their ballot on election day and the president that wins the most states “electoral votes” wins. How many years are they elected? Color the map from the previous election OR if it is an election year color it after or during the election. Use the free electoral map enclosed. How many votes did each person get? Who won the election?

7. Have a session with your family or group where you vote for an activity, project, or something to participate in. Each person goes around in a circle and names items to vote on and why you should vote for their activity etc. Give everyone a piece of paper and have them vote. Your vote counts and can make a difference in the turn out of the decision.

8. Create a craft that represents the white house, our country, president, or the election. Examples include: hats, white house diorama, puzzle, political party symbols, color the presidential seal, or red white and blue clothing or accessories.

9. Create a ballot for voting. It can be for activities or food to eat? Example, hand out the ballot voting for popcorn or chips? Watch a movie at home or play a board game? [Sample ballot is located in this kit]

10. Use candy or candy bars to represent the voting process. Have each person choose a candy or candy bar to create a poster for and why you should vote for it. You should vote for me because I have a dark chocolate coating, caramel and nugget etc. They can include colorful wrappers, drawings and maybe a slogan. After the top TWO have been determined they can create a team of members to campaign for their candy. What candy won? For extra, share the candy with the group. [Beware of allergies in the group and keep the selections to those that can we shared with all]
