Hungary used to be part of Austria. Hungarian folk dress is very colorful and heavily embroidered. Puffed sleeves are common for women, and a vest and long flowing sleeves are worn as part of the males clothing. Women have brightly colored dresses, and bright headdresses.

Located on the patch is Hungarian Parliament Building, one of Europe's oldest legislative buildings. The main façade overlooks the River Danube. One of the famous parts of the building is the hexadecagonal (sixteen-sided) central hall. The Holy Crown of Hungary is displayed there.

    2. In Hungary, the official language is Hungarian. Hungarian
    is a very unique and difficult language to learn, and the Hungarians take
    pride in their language. Because the language is so difficult to understand
    and learn, most Hungarians are fluent in other world languages such as
    English, Spanish, and German in order to communicate with the outside
    world. Learn some words or slang that is spoken in Hungary.

    3. Holidays and festivals are based on the religious and
    agricultural calendars. Each celebration is very special and is normally
    celebrated in the traditional way, including traditional dress and food.
    The spring and fall months normally include harvest festivals, and Easter
    is celebrated with unique customs that go back to the founding of the
    culture. Learn about festivals in Hungary, go to a festival, participate
    in one, OR complete a craft that represents a festival.

    4. Hungary's diet is very heavy and rich, and usually always
    includes the spice, paprika. The national dish, goulash is a very popular
    soup served with mutton, beef, or pork, and a variety of vegetables, potatoes
    and paprika. Soups and stews are almost always the main dish served in
    Hungary. Try a recipe, food, or drink from Hungary.

    5. Music and dance reflects a large range of European cultures,
    and traditional folk music and dance go way back to the middle ages. The
    classical composer Franz Liszt is famous for putting European and native
    musical traditions together. Folk dance dates back to very early times,
    and includes jumping dances and solo dances, all accompanied by folk music.

    6. Reading and writing is very popular in Hungary. Book
    sellers are a common scene on most Hungarian streets. Early literature

    Hungarorum, and his views on the migration of the Magyar people's. Poetry
    is also very popular in Hungary and began back in the 16th century. Read

    7. The rich and prideful Hungarian culture is due to 1000's
    of years of history and advancement. In what is known as the Great Migration,
    the seven original tribes of Hungary known as the Magyar tribes crossed
    into the Carpathian pass and attempted to settle in the land, which was
    already heavily occupied. Learn more about this rich culture. Chose one

    8. Geographically speaking, Hungary is located in Central
    Europe, however it is generally described as an eastern country because
    of its culture. Most of the country is flat, and has very few mountain
    ranges. To the east of the Danube River, lies the Great Hungarian Plain
    (Puszta). This is considered to be the "heart" of the country, where it
    is full of culture and character. Much of this area is under cultivation,
    and is full of livestock. There are a multitude of plant species found
    in Hungary, however most of that is agriculturally grown. Notable animal
    species include: deer, wild boar, elk, and fox. There are also a lot of

    9. Embroidery, pottery, and carvings featuring nature and
    spiral designs are popular traditional handicrafts in Hungary. These are
    usually crafts done by women. Men work on leather work and horn carvings
