Ideas on how to get started

  • Involve the members of any organization or clubs you may belong to such as your Senior Citizens Center, Garden Center, Book Club, Women's or Men Groups, etc., and get them involved in your efforts.
  • If you are a teacher, scout leader, day care provider. use this as a project for your children to challenge them to collect as much change or money as possible. Offer a certificate for the most collected and the dollar amount collected. It can also assist them in math skills by counting the money.
  • Ask you local churches if they are collecting items for Haiti or funds. Some churches are creatingRelief Packages with essential needed items in them, items are placed in a gallon ziploc bag: Shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, nail clippers, bandages, hand towel, and body wash.
  • Have everyone bring in their change or funds they collect in a month for the cause. Make a donation in the name of your organization.
  • Have an event and ask them to donate funds. Make checks payable to an organization sponsoring this cause or donate online.
