Dress
up like your favorite movie star attend a parent daughter
event, make your own movie, have a Hollywood celebration or
lots of other glamorous fun.
Have
a dance or an event. Decorations could include participants
decorating their own stars and cameras. See below for some
quick ideas.
Focal
point coming into the event: Using poster board, several
pieces taped together, creating an arch walk through. Trim
the top to create an arch at the top. Cover the poster board
with stars, cameras, glitter, and/or movie film strips. For
extra, you can make a "HOLLYWOOD" sign like the
one in the real Hollywood. Attach it around the doorway with
packing tape. {You may want to create it in two separate pieces
so you can transport it to your event.}
For
extra, you can cut out various "Hollywood" themed
items from poster board or make a film camera, paparazzi camera,
hollywood scene clapboards, whistles, and director's chairs
and place it on the bottom of the arch. ALSO, it would be
a great asset to make a red carpet (red felt works the best)--make
sure to use double stick tape to make sure it stays!
Attire:
For this event you can wear a nice dress, dress as a "paparazzi"
member, wear a glittery or ridiculous outfit, a pop/rock star,
a fan, a manager, bouncer, or the "hot" date. Be
creative!
Decorations
inside the facility: Decorations could include participants
decorating their own camera with the group's number/name and
surrounding it with the people's names on "flashes"
or stars or film strips. Other ideas include: hollywood scene
clappers, director's chairs, microphones, "featuring"
posters, sunglasses, limos, etc. You can create them out of
construction paper and/or poster board. For extra, you can
add glitter or rhinestones for extra bling. Each group could
receive a pattern for the decoration. Collect decorations
at the next meeting before the dance. Before the guests arrive
tape them on the wall behind the tables. Personal touch yet
very festive. Cuts down on cost for the event as well.
Refreshments:
Festive tablecloths in red, black, white, or gray should be
used to cover the table. Place a plastic basket of chocolates
(be aware of allergies!), cookies, pretzels and/or candies
on each table with a film stip, hollywood scene clapboard,
sunglasses, etc. with the name of each group written on it.
Water bottles can be placed on each table with "starring"
stickers and then the members of the table can write their
name on it.
Extra:
Take photos of each group or if it is a parent/daughter event
take pictures of couples. A backdrop could be a black sheet
with stars attached to it. You can also hang film strips around
the fabric as well or stencil the lettering "Hollywood
Night " on the backdrop. You could also have a Hollywood
scene or have the child hold an item like the ones listed
above. Child sits on stool and parent stands. Instead of the
stool, they could sit in a director's chair!
