Dress
up in tropical clothing or mermaid princess attend a parent
daughter event, have a tropical event, or under the sea event.
Having
a dance or an event. Decorations could include participants
decorating their own fish or ocean animal. See below for some
quick ideas.
Focal
point coming into the event: Using poster board, several
pieces taped together, creating an arch walk through. Trim
the top to create an arch at the top. Cover the poster board
with fish, tissue paper, seashells, glitter, and other sea
creatures. Attach it around the doorway with packing tape.
{You may want to create it in two separate pieces so you can
transport it to your event.}
For
extra, you can cut out various "Under the Sea items"
themed items from poster board. Use sand buckets at the refreshment
table for each table to hold chips, gold fish crackers, or
other refreshments.
Attire:
Dress up in tropical clothing or under the sea attire.
Decorations
inside the facility: Decorations could include participants
decorating their own fish, ocean animal, or flower, with the
group's number/name. Each group could receive a pattern for
the decoration. Collect decorations at the next meeting before
the dance. Before the guests arrive tape them on the wall
behind the tables. Personal touch yet very festive. Cuts down
on cost for the event as well.
Refreshments:
Festive tablecloths in tropical colors should be used to cover
the table. Place a plastic sandbucket to write the group or
troop number on the tables. If the buckets are small enough
you can fill them up with chocolates (be aware of allergies!),
cookies, pretzels and/or gummy candies on each table of fish
or special themed items. Water bottles can be placed on each
table with "fish" stickers and then the members
of the table can write their name on it.
Extra:
Take photos of each group or if it is a parent/daughter event
take pictures of couples. A backdrop could be bright colored
sheet or shower curtain, due to the participants probably
having floral patterned clothing.
